poisonwood's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- power out What is going on in Kentu*cky right now is somewhat similar to what happened after power was lost in Seat*tle - except colder. On the latter occasion, 18 people died, 8 due to carbon monoxide poisoning. From the CNN article: The storm has been blamed for at least 16 deaths in a crisis authorities expect could leave people without power for "a couple more weeks," he added. So they issued a statewide bulletin - how exactly did they issue it? People have no power, so many or not listening to the radio or watching TV. When this happened in Sea*ttle, the majority of those killed due to CO were immigrant families who either did not speak Eng*lish at all or did not speak it well. Anyway, I definitely appreciate having power more now. I realize, though, that I would still be in trouble if I lost power for more than a couple days as I have limited wood. I really need to get some more wood, just in case. 8:00 a.m. - Feb. 02, 2009 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
