The WSJ on the accident. From the article:

A British Airways PLC Airbus A319 flying from London to Budapest with 82 people aboard suffered a brief but terrifying incident in 2005, when the cockpit suddenly went dark, the autopilot system turned off and all of the main cockpit instruments went out.

The captain tried to transmit a "mayday" call but the radio was inoperative. With the copilot struggling to find some switches in the dark, the crew went through a checklist and in about 90 seconds managed to recover their instruments. Investigators ultimately concluded that the loss of one of two primary electrical systems led to "an unforeseen failure mode" that could result in the loss of both the captain's and first officer's primary flight instruments.

Perhaps cockpits should be equipped with headlamps?

I have been absolutely exhausted this week. I think I usually recharge on the weekends, and I've been busy or travelling the past three weekends.
