The Pul itzer prizes came out today. I happen to have read the fiction winner, Olive Kitt eridge. It's very good; I gave it five stars. However, I'm not sure I have given it a Pul itzer if I were in charge. Nevertheless, it's worth a read.

Meanwhile, deflation in Spain is a bit scary. 15.5% unemployment! Wow. That sucks. And in the article it says they anticipate it rising to 20%. To state the obvious, that's a big, big problem. You're looking at poverty, angry youth, the works. It makes me think that socialism, as Spain's government, as far as I know, leans towards, is not such a good plan.

While unemployment traditionally is higher in Spain than in much of Europe, the sharp increase has many here nervous. The jobless rate for those under 25 is at a Depression-like level of 31.8 percent, the highest among the 27 nations of the European Union.
